The launch of the Porsche 901 at the 1963 IAA marked a milestone in automotive history. The name had to be changed because Peugeot held the patent on the 0 in the middle of type designations. But nevertheless, there was no stopping the 911 on its way to becoming a sports car icon. The success story stretches from the original model through the Carrera RS 2.7, the fastest production car of its time with the characteristic rear spoiler, the so-called "ducktail", to the current generation.
In his distinctive style, René Staud makes the most important models from the large 911 family shine brightly. The knowledgeable classification in the automotive historical context is provided by author Jürgen Lewandowski.
