The quote, "If you want the butterfly to visit you be like a flower" and cover of this notebook are inspired on the drawings by A. Maria Sybilla Merian (1647-1717), who meticulously drew insects and plants in 18th century Surinam. The first two pages cover a drawing from the Natural History Museum in London.
