The design of this notebook is inspired by the work of designer Pierre Legrain (1889-1929). Legrain was a key figure in early 20th-century French bookbinding, but began his career in illustration, theatre design and furniture making. After leaving the French army in 1916, Legrain became known for his eye for design and was commissioned by Jacques Doucet, a French bibliophile and collector, to create unique covers for Doucet's impressive library.
